Principal
Dear McKinley Students and Families,
Welcome to McKinley!
McKinley School is a neighborhood kindergarten – fifth grade school with approximately 470 students. This year we have four classes in grade K, 1, 2, 3, and three classes in grade 4, and five classes in grade 5. McKinley is a learning community with a diverse student population. Our students were born in 21 countries other than the U.S. and 14 different languages are spoken in our homes. We are proud of our diversity and know that by building understanding and respect for cultural differences, we are preparing students to co-exist peacefully in a multi-cultural world.
Although we come from different backgrounds and cultures, we come to McKinley with the same belief – We are Family. We accept each other. We care about each other. We are here for each other. Our staff works tirelessly to ensure that rigorous, joyful learning is experienced every day by every student in a safe, supportive environment.
McKinley School is particularly proud of its arts education. Here are some extracurricular opportunities for McKinley students:
Student Council, Green Team, and Safety Patrol
McKinley School is blessed with an energetic, enthusiastic and involved parent body devoted to supporting the efforts of our great staff. Our PTA sponsors a variety of special events and programs throughout the school year which contribute enormously to our sense of community and love for our school.
We are also fortunate to have a special affiliation with both the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club and the United Way. Wakeman provides mentoring and after-school programs for McKinley students both on-site and at their Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse.
Our McKinley our pledge is alive every day! Each morning the community recites the pledge in unison. “I pledge to try my best to be safe, respectful and responsibility in school and in my community every day.” We value all staff, students and families and proudly state: We are family!
